Seahawks’ Leonard Williams exits MNF clash vs. Bears with stinger

Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Leonard Williams exited the team's Monday Night Football matchup against the Chicago Bears after suffering a stinger, cutting his night short in a hard fought prime time contest.

The game opened with plenty of fireworks. Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba torched the Chicago secondary for a huge touchdown, giving Seattle an early spark in front of a national audience. Chicago answered with pressure up front, as recently acquired defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons announced his presence by sacking Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, setting an aggressive tone on both sides of the ball.

The physical back and forth took a toll, and Williams was among those forced to leave the field. A stinger typically involves nerve irritation around the neck or shoulder, and the team will likely evaluate him further before determining his availability going forward.

Seattle's defensive front had been counting on Williams to anchor the line and disrupt the pocket. His absence puts added responsibility on the remaining rotation to hold up against a Bears offense that came out intent on establishing itself early.

Coach Mike Macdonald's squad will monitor Williams in the coming days. The severity of the injury and his status for the next matchup remain unclear, but the Seahawks are hopeful the issue is minor and that their veteran presence up front will not miss significant time.
