Three Potential Landing Spots for Kyrie Irving at the Trade Deadline

November 2, 2026 - 21:55

The NBA trade deadline is approaching and Kyrie Irving's situation with the Dallas Mavericks has become one of the most discussed storylines around the league. While Irving remains a highly skilled scorer and playmaker, questions about fit, availability and long term commitment have teams weighing whether to pursue a deal. Dallas must decide if moving him now maximizes return value or if keeping him stabilizes a roster built around Luka Doncic.

Several teams stand out as logical destinations. The Los Angeles Lakers have long been linked to Irving and could offer a package centered on draft capital and salary filler to reunite him with LeBron James. The Miami Heat represent another strong fit, where his shot creation would complement Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo in a disciplined culture. The Phoenix Suns also make sense as a team seeking additional backcourt firepower to compete in a crowded Western Conference.

Each scenario carries risk. Irving's contract situation and history of off court distractions will force suitors to weigh talent against stability. Dallas, for its part, will seek players who can contribute immediately rather than a full rebuild. Expect negotiations to intensify as the deadline nears, with multiple teams gauging the price for one of the league's most gifted guards.
