Rondo, Webb Among the 2026 Class of the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame

Rondo, Webb Among the 2026 Class of the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame

The Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 induction class, and the list is led by two of the state's most recognizable basketball names. Rajon Rondo, who guided the University of Kentucky to a national championship in 2012, and former Louisville Cardinals star and NBA veteran Earl "The Twirl" Webb headline a group of six honorees set to be enshrined this fall.

Rondo, a native of Louisville, spent two seasons in Lexington before embarking on a 16-year NBA career that included two championship rings with the Boston Celtics. He is widely regarded as one of the smartest point guards of his generation, known for his elite court vision and defensive tenacity. Webb, meanwhile, starred at Louisville in the late 1990s before a long pro career overseas and in the NBA, where he played for several teams and earned a reputation as a high-flying scorer.

Joining them in the class are former University of Kentucky women's basketball standout Valerie Still, who remains one of the program's all-time leading scorers; longtime high school football coach and athletic director Bob Schneider; legendary track coach Joe Fedele; and pioneering sports broadcaster Cathy Jones. The induction ceremony is scheduled for October in Louisville, with proceeds benefiting the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame's educational programs.
