Liverpool are beginning to find rhythm under Andoni Iraola, but their starts have not always matched the quality of what has followed. Fulham may see that as their best route into Saturday's game at Anfield.
Liverpool have developed a habit of beginning matches on the back foot. In several recent outings, the opening half hour has been scrappy, with misplaced passes and loose possession allowing opponents to press high and create chances. The response after the break has often been strong, but relying on second half surges is a risky pattern against a Fulham side that has shown it can punish lapses.
Fulham arrive with a clear plan. Marco Silva has drilled his team to stay compact, win the ball in midfield, and strike quickly on the counter. If Liverpool again take time to settle, Fulham will look to turn early turnovers into shots and set pieces. The visitors know a goal inside the first twenty minutes would change the mood inside Anfield and force the home side to chase the game.
For Liverpool, the message is simple. Start faster, keep the ball with purpose, and avoid giving Fulham encouragement. The talent is there, but the first whistle must bring the same intensity as the final twenty minutes. Otherwise, Fulham will believe they can take something from this trip.
