Lobotka injury: Napoli star stretchered off in tears

October 28, 2026 - 19:26

Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka suffered a suspected ankle injury in the first half of a Serie A match against Monza and was stretchered off in tears. The Slovak international went down after a challenge and immediately signaled for medical attention. He was unable to put any weight on his left leg as he left the pitch.

The injury occurred shortly before the break, and the 29-year-old was clearly in distress as he was carried away. He covered his face with his shirt while being taken off, a sign of how serious the problem appeared to be. Club staff will assess the damage in the coming days, but early indications suggest a possible ankle sprain or ligament issue.

Lobotka has been a key figure in Napoli's midfield this season, controlling the tempo and providing stability in front of the defense. His absence would be a significant blow for the team as they push for a strong finish in the league table. The coaching staff may need to adjust their lineup depending on the length of his recovery.

The match continued with Napoli making a substitution, but the mood around the stadium shifted after seeing one of their most consistent players leave in such pain. Further updates on his condition are expected after the game.
