Wilkinson will keep pushing Wales forward

Charlton Athletic midfielder Mia Ross has welcomed the news that Rhian Wilkinson has signed a new contract to remain as head coach of the Wales women's national team, calling it a vital boost ahead of two crucial Women's World Cup qualifiers.

Wilkinson, who took charge last year, has been credited with instilling a more progressive and confident style of play. Ross, a regular in the squad, believes the stability of the manager's extended tenure will allow the team to build on recent improvements.

"It is really good news for everyone," Ross said. "Rhian has brought a clear identity and a real belief that we can compete with the best. Knowing she is staying on means we can keep pushing forward without any distractions."

Wales are preparing for their upcoming qualifying matches, which are seen as a major step on the road to the 2027 World Cup. Ross emphasized that the squad is fully focused on delivering results. "We have a strong group, and the confidence is there. The new deal just adds to that positive feeling," she added.

The midfielder also highlighted Wilkinson's ability to develop young talent and create a competitive environment. "She demands high standards, but she also gives you the freedom to express yourself. That balance is key for us," Ross said.

With the qualifiers approaching, Ross is determined to play her part. "We want to make history. This contract shows we are building something long-term, and we all want to be part of it."
