A packed schedule of recreation opportunities and college and prep sports events is set for the next two weeks, running from Friday, May 29, through Sunday, June 7.
For youth and adult leagues, the city parks department will host the final week of spring softball and baseball regular seasons. Games are scheduled each evening at the Northside Complex and Riverbend Fields. Players should check with their team managers for specific field assignments and rainout make-up dates.
On the prep side, the state high school track and field championships will be held on Saturday, May 30, at the university stadium. Field events start at 9 a.m., with running finals beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free for students with a school ID.
College baseball fans can catch the regional tournament series starting June 4. The local university team, seeded third in its bracket, will face the second seed in a double-elimination format. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at the campus diamond.
the community center is offering a free pickleball clinic on June 1 from 10 a.m. to noon. No registration is required, and equipment will be provided for beginners.
All events are open to the public unless noted otherwise. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and sunscreen for outdoor venues.
