General manager Steve Yzerman and the front office made the move to bring in the 25-year-old netminder, who is expected to serve as a backup option for the team. Tarasov, a Russian-born goalie, has spent time in the Columbus Blue Jackets organization, where he appeared in 44 NHL games over the past few seasons. He posted a 3.18 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage during his stint with Columbus.
