The postseason started with a bang for the Richwoods girls flag football team on Thursday night. Hosting Hollsboro in a regional quarterfinal matchup at Peoria Stadium, the home squad wasted no time establishing control. Senior Acosia Morris took the first play from scrimmage 86 yards for a touchdown, setting the tone for a lopsided 65-6 victory.
Morris was not finished there. She added another long touchdown run later in the contest as the Richwoods offense overwhelmed the visiting defense throughout the evening. The early lead allowed the team to rotate players and rest starters as the game progressed.
Defensively, Richwoods clamped down after the opening score, preventing Hollsboro from finding any rhythm. The win moves Richwoods into the next round of the regional bracket, where the competition is expected to tighten up.
The victory highlights a strong start to the playoff run for the seniors, who are looking to extend their final season as far as possible. Richwoods will carry that momentum into the regional semifinal.
