How Sean Burke Silenced Cleveland’s Offense in the ALDS

The Chicago White Sox are now one win away from reaching the American League Championship Series after taking Game 2 of the ALDS against the Cleveland Guardians on Monday. The 4-3 victory owed much to right-hander Sean Burke, a traditional starter who delivered a lengthy relief outing when his team needed it most.

Burke entered the game and immediately quieted a Cleveland lineup that had been finding ways to apply pressure. He attacked the strike zone, mixed his pitches effectively, and kept the Guardians off balance through the middle innings. The outing bridged the gap between the starter and the back end of the bullpen, preserving a slim lead and preventing any momentum shift.

Cleveland threatened late but could not string together the kind of rally that defined its regular season. Chicago's defense held firm behind Burke, and the offense did just enough to stay ahead. With the series now firmly in their favor, the White Sox have a chance to close things out in the next game and punch their ticket to the next round.
