The Miami Dolphins hosted former Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White for a workout on Tuesday, as the team continues to evaluate options to bolster its backfield depth. White, a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia, spent the past two seasons with the Raiders before being released earlier this offseason.
During his time in Las Vegas, the 24-year-old back showed flashes of potential, particularly in a four-game stretch late in the 2023 season where he rushed for 397 yards and a touchdown while filling in for an injured Josh Jacobs. However, his 2024 campaign was less productive, as he managed only 145 yards on 44 carries across 11 games before being waived.
For Miami, the interest in White makes sense given the team's current running back situation. Starter Raheem Mostert is coming off a season-ending injury, and while De'Von Achane has emerged as a dynamic playmaker, the Dolphins could use additional size and power in the rotation. White, listed at 6 feet and 215 pounds, brings a physical, downhill running style that contrasts with the speed-focused approach of Achane and the versatile Mostert.
The workout does not guarantee a signing, but it signals that Miami is actively looking for reinforcements. With training camp approaching, adding a proven runner like White could provide valuable insurance and competition for a roster spot.
