The Chicago Cubs made history on Friday night, notching their second 10-game winning streak of the 2026 season with a dominant blowout victory over the Texas Rangers. According to baseball researchers, this marks the first time a Major League team has posted two separate double-digit win streaks in the same season since the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers accomplished the feat.
The Cubs, who have been surging through the summer, opened the year with a 10-game run in April. After a brief mid-season slump, the club has now rattled off another 10 consecutive wins, putting them firmly atop the National League Central standings. Friday's game was never in doubt, as Chicago's offense exploded for seven runs in the third inning, while the pitching staff held the Rangers to just two hits over the final six frames.
Manager Craig Counsell credited the team's depth and resilience for the achievement. "It takes a complete roster to do something like this once, let alone twice in a year," he said after the game. "Every guy in that clubhouse has stepped up at some point during these streaks."
The 1955 Dodgers, of course, went on to win the World Series that year. While the Cubs are not looking that far ahead, fans at Wrigley Field are starting to believe this season could be special. The team will look to extend the streak to 11 games in Saturday's matchup against the Rangers.
