Cedarville University has announced plans to launch an online degree in sports business management, a move designed to make the program accessible to students who cannot attend classes on the Ohio campus. The new fully online option will mirror the curriculum of the existing on-campus program, covering topics such as sports marketing, facility management, event planning, and legal issues in athletics.
University officials say the decision responds to growing demand for flexible education in the sports industry. Many potential students work in sports-related jobs or have scheduling conflicts that prevent traditional enrollment. The online format will allow them to earn a degree while maintaining their current roles.
The program will also include opportunities for virtual internships and networking with professionals in the field. Faculty members plan to use real-world case studies and industry software to prepare students for careers in collegiate athletics, professional sports organizations, and recreation management.
Cedarville's sports business management program has seen steady enrollment growth in recent years. Administrators hope the online version will attract students from outside the region, including military personnel and working adults seeking a career change. The first cohort is expected to begin coursework in the fall semester.
