Angeli Returns as Syracuse Prepares for Sold-Out Clash at North Carolina

Syracuse has named Steve Angeli its starting quarterback for Saturday's game against North Carolina, ending weeks of uncertainty at the position. The announcement comes as the Orange get set to play in front of a sold-out crowd in Chapel Hill, a venue that will test the offense from the opening snap.

Angeli's return gives Syracuse a steady presence under center after a stretch of uneven play at the position. Coaches have pointed to his command of the offense and his ability to push the ball downfield as reasons for the decision. His timing with the receivers will be critical against a North Carolina defense that has been aggressive in coverage and quick to pressure the pocket.

The matchup carries weight for both programs as they look to build momentum in conference play. Syracuse players have embraced the challenge of a road environment that figures to be loud and hostile from kickoff. Angeli's composure will matter, especially on third down and in the red zone, where the Orange have struggled at times this season.

Preparation this week has focused on communication and protection schemes, with the offensive line expected to face a variety of blitzes. Coaches say the plan is to lean on the run game to ease pressure on Angeli and open up play-action opportunities. A fast start would help quiet the crowd and settle the offense early.

For Angeli, the start is a chance to reclaim rhythm and lead the team through a demanding stretch of the schedule. Teammates have praised his work ethic and poise in practice, and the staff believes he gives Syracuse the best chance to move the ball consistently. All eyes will be on how he handles the moment in a packed stadium.
